JOB SUMMARY:
Assists the Director of Golf with club and pro shop operations, including scheduling, teaching golf lessons, and organizing tournaments. Oversees golf operations in the absence of the Director of Golf. Plays with members and guests and ensures that they feel welcome and enjoy themselves.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for the golf operations in the absence of the Director of Golf.
- Provides day-to-day management of the golf pro-shop, including inventory control, general upkeep, ordering, receiving, and pricing of merchandise. Handles returns and supervises pro shop personnel.
- Extends hospitality and courteousness to members and guests to ensure they feel welcome and enjoy their time at the club.
- Plays with members and guests and hones golf game.
- Conducts and encourages participation in club tournaments and types up tournament summary reports.
- Assists with recruitment and training of new members of the golf team.
- Develop and manage various types of Player Development programs, including junior and ladies’ programs.
- Maintains handicap programs and trains caddies.
- Opens and sorts incoming mail and merchandise.

- Treats all members, guests and co-workers in a friendly and respectful manner in accordance with the standards of excellence of The Ford Field and River Club.
- Assists in other departments and performs additional related duties as required.
- Understands and follows policies and procedures of the department and The Ford Field & River Club overall.

Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND QUALIFIATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree required. Current and active membership in the P.G.A.
- Excellent player with a minimum of 5 years’ experience.
- Friendly, outgoing and a good teacher.
- Excellent communication skills. Professional appearance required.
- A valid driver’s license is required to drive golf carts.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Standing, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling. Lifts 25 pounds occasionally up to 50 pounds. Vision must be correctable to read and write. Hearing must be sufficient to understand conversation on the telephone in a noisy environment. Must have hand usage to complete forms, use keyboard and mouse and other office equipment and teach golf. Must be able to work irregular hours including weekends and holidays.
