We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Specialist to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing payroll processes, ensuring accuracy in financial records, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations. This role is crucial in supporting our employees by ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing.
Responsibilities
- Process payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy in hours worked, deductions, and benefits.
- Maintain and update employee records related to payroll, including new hires, terminations, and changes in status.
- Prepare journal entries and manage general ledger accounting related to payroll transactions.
- Utilize financial software such as Paychex to manage payroll systems efficiently.
- Perform regular audits of payroll data to ensure compliance with financial concepts and tax regulations.
- Assist in the preparation of tax filings and other regulatory reports as required.
- Collaborate with HR to resolve any discrepancies related to employee compensation or benefits.
- Support the finance department with ad-hoc reporting and analysis as needed.
Skills
- Strong understanding of debits and credits as they relate to payroll processing.
- Proficiency in financial software, particularly Paychex or similar platforms.
- Solid accounting knowledge with experience in journal entries and general ledger accounting.
- Excellent 10-key typing skills for efficient data entry.
- Familiarity with financial concepts and tax regulations affecting payroll.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in work output.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with team members across departments.
