What are the responsibilities and job description for the Educator position at The Hyde Collection?
Responsibilities: Reporting to the Curator of Education and Engagement, develop and provide relevant educational programming that explores a variety of artistic, cultural, and intellectual perspectives to all levels of learning. Engage museum visitors in programs that present and interpret the permanent collection and temporary exhibitions and create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere in the Museum. The Educator works with docents, volunteers, interns, artists, teachers, and visitors.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
•Conduct education events including adult art classes, On Screen @ The Hyde events, Art After Hours events, and other public events.
•Develop and assist with studio art classes for schools and the public including family and youth programming (Artful Afternoon, school break and summer youth workshops), studio activities with group tours, and special programming.
•Assist with planning and implementing docent programs
•Assist with scheduling of docent, school, and group tours when needed
•Establish and manage communication for appropriate community outreach and marketing of education events, including regional calendar listing management.
•Assist with departmental clerical support
All other duties as assigned.
Requirements: BA in Art History/Studio Art/Education preferred; 2-3 years experience in art museum education preferred. Strong people skills and experience working with children, preferably in a classroom setting, required. Availability required for weekend and some evening hours.
