What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coach, Pre-K Basketball position at The J?
Description
Coaches oversee all aspects of the youth basketball program, which can include serving as a customer service point of contact, coach, or referee. The J’s basketball program emphasizes fun, safety and convenience and teaches the value of good sportsmanship. Experience as a coach/player/referee is preferred, but not mandatory.
Schedule
We are hiring reliable part-time staff to assist on weekends for our Winter Basketball program. We are hiring for Pre-K participants on Sundays.
Essential Functions
- Coach basketball practices/games/clinics for ages 4-5
- Supervise children ages 4 to 5 years old

Requirements
- Experience working with children preferred
- Experience as a coach/referee/player is preferred
- Knowledge of basketball and its rules
- Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends
- Must have reliable transportation
Physical Requirements
- Constant talking and hearing to communicate with players and officials
- Frequent standing, walking and eye/hand/foot coordination as well as exposure to a generally loud gymnasium environment
- Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling of 25lbs, stooping/crouching, sitting, climbing stairs/ladders throughout the building and on the court and repetitive motions to demonstrate and execute skills
