Position Title: James Beard Awards Ethics Administrative Assistant (Contract Position)

About the Position
This position works with the James Beard Awards Ethics Committee (“the Committee”) that is responsible for receiving and investigating allegations of misconduct by James Beard Award nominees. The contractor will be responsible for supporting the Committee during the 2025 Awards cycle (January-June 2025).
Contractor Requirements
General Administrative Support:
- Primary oversight and maintenance of the James Beard Awards Hotline information and database, under the direction of the Ethics Committee; organization to include entry of hotline information and other data into tracking software
- Creation and circulation of Ethics Committee Meeting Agendas, note taking during meetings, and sending follow up communications
- Schedule Ethics Committee meetings and take the lead in sending pertinent communications prior and after meetings
- Drafting of relevant documents for the Ethics Committee including distribution of draft procedures, collection of edits, implementation of edits and finalization of documents for distribution and final approvals
- Tracking and filing of relevant documents on Microsoft Teams database
- Liaising between the Ethics Committee and others including James Beard Foundation executives, the Board of Trustees, and other parties
- Supporting and facilitating approval of any committee expenses
- Additional administrative and support work as needed
Qualifications:
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- Ability to work with individuals at all levels of an organization
- Legal/litigation/investigation administrative support experience a plus
- Experience working with data tracking software/databases
- Discretion and confidentiality are essential to the performance of this role
Pay Rate: $45 per hour
Estimated Schedule: Average 7-10 hours per week x 6 months with no guarantee.
The position is fully remote and starts approximately January 10.
Training will be provided.
