Job Summary:
Under the guidance of the engineering and design teams, the designer utilizes CAD, (NX-Unigraphics) to create three dimensional models and blueprints of tight tolerance custom gages and fixtures used in many industries. Other tasks are updating revisions, maintaining the drafting standards, and gathering reference materials for the designs. The designer prints the designs to full size and scale using plotters and scanners.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Creates drawings and models of custom gaging and fixtures using drafting standards and reference materials.
- Create exploded views for assembly processes.
- Reviews prints and has a basic knowledge of GD&T.
- Creates Bill of materials, shop routings and identifying inspection dimensions.
- Examine design concepts and offer suggestions during engineering and manufacturing design reviews.
- Maintains prints to current revisions and specs.
- Is responsible for the drawing vault, documentation, and maintaining legacy drawings.
- Create and modify CAD files for manufacturing. Including .DXF, .STP, .XT, .IGS and others.
- Maintains Smartsheet for scheduling and reporting on all current design projects.
