Feed Mill Maintenance Technician

Typical Duties of the Feed Mill Maintenance Technician:

Preventative Maintenance:

• Completion of all routine preventative maintenance (PM) checks, lubrication, etc, according to company Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMM).
• Completion of all PM checklist items and documentation and communication of the status of these at shift change and team meetings.
• Communication of any issues identified to Mill Management by reporting, documenting, and maintaining Maintenance Work Orders and CMM.

Routine Repairs:

• Complete any routine repairs in a timely manner and all tasks efficiently and thoroughly with emphasis on a like new result
• Perform daily and weekly maintenance on leg bucket elevators, chain drag conveyors, screw augers, and all other feed mill equipment.
• Promote safe work habits and maintain a safe working environment
• Support of mill activities as time allows and as instructed by management.

Sustainability and Stewardship:

• Ensure that all best management practices are consistent with commonly accepted standards for animal welfare
• Ensure that routine maintenance work is conducted in a manner that safeguards the environment and maintains regulatory compliance
• Ensure continuous learning of company Computer Maintenance Management System which includes building and documenting.
• Ensure Feed Mill equipment and operations are fully supported by having a good understanding of the process flow of the mill.

Inventory Control

• Responsible for maintaining spare parts inventory and replenishing stock as used by working with internal and external resources to acquire inventory as needed.
• Responsible for maintaining accurate tool inventory, including maintaining tools to be in a safe and proper working condition

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of:

• General maintenance techniques such as plumbing, electrical, and ventilation systems
• General understanding of mechanical equipment and its operation.
• Basic understanding of computer operations.

Skilled In:

• Following oral and written communications.
• Time management.
• Organizational skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Customer service.
• Basic Welding and Fabrication preferred.
• 3 Phase Electrical Knowledge preferred
• Basic understanding of mechanical troubleshooting, inventory management, and industrial gear boxes preferred.

• Work both independently and in a team environment to accomplish goals.
• Desire to learn new skills and technology systems.
• Possess a strong work ethic, desire to work as a team member, and respect for their peers

Compensation and Benefits:

Targeted pay range of $20.00-$25.00 USD per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
