What are the responsibilities and job description for the Specimen Collector position at The Pain Treatment Institute?
The Pain Treatment Institute is seeking a Specimen Collector in our Frisco and Plano location. He/she will accurately collect urine specimens from patients for drug screening purposes adhering to all company policies and procedures. He/she will create an atmosphere of confidence while working with patients and will courteously explain the procedure and answer any questions related to the testing. Must be able to work with physician staff efficiently and effectively.
Responsibilities:
· Performs Drug Screen Collections and associated task established procedures. This includes but is not limited to drug screen collecting, handling the associated paperwork and entering all data into digital lab portal accurately.
· Facilitates the collection, processing and delivery of specimens.
· Properly labels and documents specimens.
· Demonstrates customer service and compassion when interacting with patients, physicians, and clinical staff.
· Follows all universal precautions and all OSHA standards when handling specimens.
· Strictly adheres to HIPAA guidelines.
· Maintains a neat, clean, orderly work area at all times.
· Perform departmental-related duties such as accurate data entry, inventory and orders supplies as needed.
· Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Qualifications:
· Previous lab experience, preferred with a minimum of 6 months experience with lab or Medical Assistant training. Will train the right person.
· Must be computer proficient, have attention to detail, accuracy, organizational skills, and verbal and written communication skills.
· Must be accurate, detail oriented, along with strong organizational skills.
· Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
· Must be able to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
· Must have reliable transportation. Ability to travel to other clinics when needed for coverage.
· Must demonstrate superior customer focus; ability to communicate openly and transparently with peers, supervisors and patients.
· Ability to collaborate with others in a multidisciplinary team environment.
· Authorized to work in the US.
· High school graduate or equivalent.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour

- Monday to Friday
