Job Summary
This position plays a vital role in keeping The Peak clean and free from potential safety hazards. Under the direction of the Housekeeping Supervisor, the Housekeeper assures that the highest standard of cleanliness is met. The Housekeeper will engage with members as tasks are completed, creating a friendly atmosphere.
This job description applies to those working Mornings, Afternoons, Evenings and/or Weekends.
Interpersonal Skills:

General Daily Housekeeping Duties:
- Receives list of specific cleaning duties from supervisor - to include:
- Assists with laundry
- Cleans showers, toilets, and sinks
- Replenishes toiletries, soap, lotion, paper products
- Reports safety hazards as they arise or performs small ‘fixes’ if able
- Makes thorough run-through of entire facility as directed
- Cleans windows and mirrors
- Cleans and restocks handicapped bathroom
- Notifies maintenance and department manager of large problems
- Cleans back office area, conference room and break room
- Cleans mezzanine, fitness floor, aerobic and cycle studios
- Cleans Gymnasium
- Clean water fountains
- Clean floor edges and clean marks off the floor
- Clean Locker Rooms
Daily job duties include:
Ensures towels are not left on the floor
Empties garbage bins
Cleans showers ensuring no build-up on glass and walls
Clean under urinals
Checks water fountains for cleanliness and clean as needed
Checks tops of lockers for towels, clothes, etc. Take to lost and found at Service Desk. Wipes off the tops of lockers
Wipes out day used lockers after rain or snow
Refills soap, conditioner, lotion, shave cream, scent sprayers
Cleans drains of hair
Sprays odo-ban into swim suit spinner at least once per day or as needed
Cleans and sanitize steam room and sauna
Checks benches, countertops, general areas and keep neat and clean
Reports any problems to Housekeeping Supervisor or General Manager
Cleans locker rooms and handicapped bathroom
Replaces products in above areas
Vacuums hallway, lounge area, conference room and area by service desk and front doors
Saturday and Sunday
Empties garbage cans in hallway, gym, lounge area
Mops gym, clean edges, fountains, glass
Vacuums hallway, lounge area, and hallway near Benefis PT
Cleans and restocks handicapped bathroom
Checks entire facility for cleanliness
Job Demands and Requirements
Physical Demands:
· Requires standing and walking for long periods of time.
· Requires considerable use of arms and legs, lifting, balancing, stooping, bending and climbing.
· Requires the use of repetitive motions associated with cleaning activities.
· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Working Conditions:
· Exposure to chemicals such as disinfectants, cleansers and soaps.
· Exposure to unpredictable behaviors by guests.
· Exposure to bodily fluids including but not limited to blood, urine and feces.
· Occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions.
· Works a varying schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Ability to handle repetitive work responsibilities.
· Possess the ability to handle member/guest and staff questions patiently and courteously.
· Able to work with supervisors and peers to create a positive work environment.
· Able to use all senses to ensure the cleanliness of the facility.
· Able to adjust quickly to changing situations and facility needs.
· Must have knowledge of the proper use of basic safety equipment.
· Must be able to clean, maintain, repair and safely operate small machinery.
Education:
· High School diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required
- AED/CPR certification (within 30 days of employment)
