Industry- Non-profit Defense/Engineering company, about 2000 employees, reports to Assistant Controller
Hours- full-time
Location- Cambridge (close to Kendall Square Red Line or parking is $200/mth)
WFH situation- Hybrid is ideal, but Remote is fine for a good candidate (must live in EST or CST).
Background check- yes produce birth certificate or passport
Why open: Project - backfill an employee who is working on a system upgrade.
Must Haves:
-Accounting degree
-3 years of GL experience (reconciliations and journal entries)
-Defense industry (Raytheon, BAE Systems, L3, General Dynamics)
-Excel, Word & Outlook proficiency

Job Description:
The Accountant II performs periodic analysis and reconciliations of various accounts. Requires attention to detail, while maintaining perspective of how specific job tasks affect the general ledger and financial statements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Prepares monthly and annual financial statements.
-Records adjusting journal entries and generates GL reports from Peoplesoft.
-Provide external and DCAA auditors with necessary supporting documentation in connection with all audits.
-Prepares property tax returns as well as participate in any tax planning projects for unrelated business income.
-Prepare reconciliations of accounts receivable, fixed assets, prepaid insurance, investment accounts, etc.
-Prepare periodic roll forward of fixed asset and account receivable balances.
-Prepare reconciliations of accounts payable, travel, and other cash accounts.
-Prepare reconciliations of all payroll related accounts.
-Prepare information for annual tax filings including business property tax returns and federal form 990 and related forms.
-Identify and resolve issues related to accounting reporting cycle.
-Assist in a variety of special projects as required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
-BS degree in Accounting with 3-5 years of directly related experience.
-Proactive individual with a strong work ethic, and is detail oriented, accurate, well organized and dedicated to providing outstanding customer service.
-Strong communication and analytical skills combines with an ability to exercise sound professional judgment.
-Manage multiple projects in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
-Ability to work in a team environment and when appropriate works independently.
-Proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook.
-Working knowledge of ERP systems like PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, Oracle or SAP.
