What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Teacher position at The Robins Nest Daycare Center?
QUALIFICATIONS: · Must meet both state licensing and Step Up To Quality qualifications.
- Associates degree, or CDA preferred in a subject relating to work with children, preferred. Must have a minimum of one year experience teaching children in a child care setting
- Proven ability to work effectively and professionally with adult staff, parents, and children
- Demonstrated skills in effective communication, both written and verbal
- Ability to teach lesson plans
- Familiarity with Step Up to Quality and assessing children
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in day-to-day operation of the classroom; including maintaining a harmonious and efficient work environment, ensuring breaks are taken at appropriate times, daily schedule is followed, etc.
- Assistance with classroom Curriculum – Planning, Implementation and Evaluation, ensures lesson plans, curriculum plans, supply requests, etc., are completed on time.
- Accepts direction, when in classroom.
- Assists with Families - Orientation and Communication
- Assists in the maintenance of appropriate standards for children's discipline and behavior standards.
- Assists in maintaining and providing periodic testing of emergency response plan.
- Continues to develop professional self
- Ensures Step Up to Quality requirements are completed on time for all children
- Participate in Family Education and Family Engagement events
- Other responsibilities as assigned.

- Ability to use discretion in communications with parents in the Teacher ‘s absence
- Ability to move and react quickly and to handle emergencies effectively
- Ability to abide by all rules and regulations applicable to workers of the center
- Ability to accept changes in schedules, environment, etc...
- Acquire knowledge of the current curriculum and implement the curriculum practices in the classroom
