San Gabriel Mission High School (SGMHS), a college-preparatory Catholic parish high school located on the historic grounds of the San Gabriel Mission, seeks a committed and dynamic Athletic Director. Our faith-driven community provides a safe and nurturing environment where young women grow as spiritual, intellectual, creative, and athletic leaders. We serve a diverse and inclusive student body in the Greater Los Angeles area.
The qualified candidate would be a part of the 2025-2026 SGMHS administration and teaching staff. SGMHS seeks a leader passionate about building and strengthening our athletic program. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and organizational skills, a deep understanding of sports fundamentals, experience with budget management, and a proactive approach to fundraising. Prior experience competing at the high school and/or college level is required as well as coaching experience at the elementary or high school level. The Athletic Director reports to the Principal and works collaboratively with coaches, parents, and student-athletes.
Responsibilities Include:
- Overseeing and administering all aspects of the athletic program.
- Developing and managing the athletic budget.
- Creating and maintaining the master sports calendar, coordinating facility usage, and scheduling transportation.
- Scheduling games, securing officials, and coordinating game day operations.
- Managing travel arrangements for teams competing in postseason events.
- Recruiting, hiring, and evaluating coaching staff.
- Mediating concerns and resolving issues related to the athletic program.
- Ensuring compliance with CIF, Horizon League, and CAA rules and regulations, including player eligibility.
- Maintaining accurate records of student athletic participation and eligibility.
- Coordinating athletic award banquets and ordering awards.
- Attending league/association/CIF meetings and serving as liaison with the Athletic Booster Club.
- Moderating the Girls Athletic Association.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of sports fundamentals.
- Experience competing at the high school and/or college level (required).
- Prior coaching experience at the elementary and/or high school level (preferred).
- Ability to effectively manage budgets and fundraising initiatives.
Required Certifications (upon hiring):
- Virtus Certification
- Play Like a Champion Today Certification
- First Aid/CPR Certification
- Fingerprinting with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles
Salary Range: $47,000 – $65,000 annually based on the Archdiocese teacher salary scale as the base pay. Compensation commensurate with level of experience, relevant professional certifications, and/or degrees earned. The Archdiocese of Los Angeles offers health benefits including medical, dental, and vision.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
Salary : $47,000 - $65,000
