Position Title: Residential Shelter Operations Manager
Job Summary: Oversee Homeless Shelter Operations
Reports To: RSD- Residential Service Director
Supervises: RSS- Residential Support Specialist
Pay Grade: 206
Pay Range: $46,500-$55,800
Qualifications: Must have 2-5 years of leadership responsibility managing residents in congregate and non-congregate settings. This role requires responsibility of the daily operations for Emergency Homeless Shelter Programs. They must have integrity and maintain confidentiality; ability to relate well with people; work independently and possess a positive attitude.
Candidates must have a passion for fulfilling the mission of The Salvation Army and must be articulate in presenting the same to others.
Candidates must successfully pass the pre-employment background inquiry and annual motor vehicle check with a valid driver's license.
Education:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Must have at least 2-5 years of previous experience in office management and/or in a homeless shelter environment or equivalent.
Skills:
- Ability to efficiently and effectively manage people and projects successfully.
- Team player, self-starter, and perform well with minimal supervision.
- Must have an interest and ability to work with people of diverse racial, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds in a sensitive and culturally appropriate manner.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience or capacity to demonstrate positive interpersonal skills and work as a cooperative team member.
- Proficiency in computer software applications, using email, MS Office applications.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Supervise, evaluate and provide ongoing training to RSS employees as appropriate.
- Perform on- call duties, scheduling, payroll of the RSS team and oversight of the front office operations.
- Maintain positive work atmosphere through appropriate conflict management, courteous demeanor, and professional and appropriate communication practices.
- Provide conflict resolution regarding client/employee relations, including addressing first-level client grievance complaints.
- Ensure that RSS are performing their duties to the best of their abilities and to provide constructive guidance on work performance; both positive and negative.
- Perform RSS performance evaluations as needed.
- Communicate the RSS performance to your immediate supervisor and seek guidance as needed.
- Assume leadership role in staff meetings as it relates to RSS performance.
- Responsibilities to include recording statistics, ordering forms, recording gift in kind and donations and front desk logs and other documentation.
- Responsible for shelter supply inventory and requisitioning shelter supplies.
- Perform shelter duties and other duties assigned as needed.
- Maintain compliance in The Salvation Army's “Safe from Harm” Certification.
- Complete CPR/ First Aid/ Food certification training and other trainings provided for the RSS and RSOM by the RSD.

Physical Demands/ Work Environment:
This Position is required to do basic business and office work. In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the individual is regularly required to talk and listen, stand, walk, sit and use hands. Individual must be able to regularly lift up to 50 pounds. The use of Office and Computer Equipment is necessary. Vision abilities will require close vision. Work may be performed indoors and occasionally require outdoors to attend meetings. There is low to moderate noise level for this position.
