Position: Group Leader
Classification: Part-time – 20 hours/week – Monday to Friday
Seasonal- Summer day camp, school break full time hours possible
Department: After School Program/Youth Services
2:00pm – 6:00pm; times vary due to school schedule.
Reports To: FMYS Program Director
Job Focus:
To plan, implement, supervise and evaluate activities provided within specific program area, such as education, career development, sports, fitness and recreation, character/leadership development and health/life skills.
Essential Functions:
_A. Prepare Youth for Success _
Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes:
Promote and stimulate program participation
Register new members and participate in their club orientation process
Provide guidance and role modeling to members
_B. Program Development and Implementation _
Effectively implement and administer programs, services and activities for drop-in members and visitors
Greet new arrivals and introduce to other members
Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members, quality in programs and appearance of the Main Street Club and satellite sites at all times. Prepare periodic activity reports and collect information necessary for the compilation of statistics
_C. Health and Safety _
Ensure a healthy and safe environment, supervising members primarily in games room, gymnasium, and other areas and extension sites as needed
Clean designated program area after use on a daily basis
_D. Supervision of Children _
Ensure a productive work environment by participating in staff meetings
Enforce rules and regulations in order to maintain discipline
Organize, lead and provide interest in activities, such as arts and crafts, game room and gym
_E. Additional Responsibilities _
Participate in special programs and events as designated by supervisor
Required to drive vehicle
Maintain close, daily contact with staff (professional and volunteer), and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct; advise/counsel
Maintain contact with members’ parents and others to assist in resolving problems
F. Provide other services as required for the efficient functioning of The Salvation Army *
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required; some college preferred
Must be at least 21 years of age or older
Valid Kentucky State Driver’s License
Previous experience working with children
TB Skin Test required
CPR and First Aid Certification required
Within 60 days of hire: Mandatory youth development training as required by Child Care Licensing and Regulations
