Part Time – Sundays only
WHO ARE WE?
The Santa Clarita Swap Meet, founded in 1963, is one of the largest and oldest outdoor markets in Southern California. We hire caring individuals that work hard to create a positive experience for our customers, and have a cooperative team spirit with each other. These are difficult times. We take the health and safety of our employees and customers very seriously, and implement all current Los Angeles Department of Public Health COVID-19 safety guidelines.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Our outdoor Sunday market comes to life before the sun comes up. Some employees start at 5:00 am to help Vendors get checked in, direct traffic in the parking lot, and sell spaces to drive-up Vendors. Later shifts greet customers as they enter and exit the property, and sell tickets to our shoppers. Most of our customers are great, but some are cranky, so expect to encounter them all. Your job is outdoors, so the weather can make some days pleasant and others difficult, but we do our best to keep everyone comfortable. Our team is supportive and welcoming of each other, and enjoy being part of a Santa Clarita Sunday tradition.
WHAT TRAITS ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- Reliability. Staff that does not show up, or arrives late, puts a lot of stress on coworkers.
- Flexibility. It’s all hands on deck and we need everyone to do what is necessary to get the job done.
- Confidence. The job requires interacting with shoppers and vendors, sometimes reminding them to follow the rules.
- Teamwork. It takes over 30 staff on Sundays to run the show, and everyone needs to work together.
- Sense of Humor. It always helps to have a positive attitude and the ability to laugh.
WHAT ELSE?
This is a Part Time job on Sundays only, approximately 7 hours per week.
Starting pay is $18.00 per hour
