With limited supervision, the 3D CAD Designer develops models and drawings based on job specific information as provided by outside customers and design criteria as set by the chimney division.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop 3D models and technical drawings in alignment with specifications provided by external clients and design standards outlined by the chimney division.
  • Utilize industry-leading software such as Autodesk Inventor or equivalent 3D CAD platforms (Creo/ProE, SolidWorks, etc.) to create and refine models in accordance with updated requirements.
  • Assess and validate the work of fellow drafters and designers, ensuring compliance with established guidelines from both the chimney division and client-provided directives.
  • Produce comprehensive part drawings tailored for manufacturing, adhering to precise specifications and industry best practices.
  • Facilitate seamless communication with clients, promptly addressing inquiries and soliciting any necessary supplementary details essential for accurate drawing production.
  • Offer specialized product support, leveraging deep domain knowledge to assist both internal teams and external stakeholders effectively.
  • Maintain meticulous documentation practices by recording new drawing requests and revisions in the drawing log, promoting precision and organization throughout the process.
  • Provide transparent updates on drawing progress to clients, fostering a collaborative and informed partnership.
  • Remain adaptable and responsive to additional responsibilities as delegated, contributing proactively to the collective success of the design team.

Education, Experience, Certifications:

  • Education: Associate's degree in CAD required; Bachelor's degree in engineering or other relevant field preferred.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of relevant CAD design experience preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in industry-standard 3D CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor, Creo/ProE, or SolidWorks, demonstrating adeptness in creating intricate models and designs.
  • Possess strong capabilities in AutoCAD for precise 2D drafting and detailing, ensuring accuracy and clarity in technical drawings.
  • Skilled in utilizing Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word, to facilitate efficient communication and documentation management.
  • Experienced in leveraging part libraries to optimize the design workflow, enhancing productivity and consistency in project execution.
  • Familiarity with parts lists and Bill of Materials (BOMs), ensuring meticulous documentation and facilitating seamless collaboration across project stakeholders.

Other Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must have the ability to communicate information in speaking and writing so others will understand.
  • Must be able to see details at close range.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to routinely move throughout the office area to assist customers and coworkers.
