Spice House is Hiring a Retail General Manager Near Evanston, IL

The Spice House is expanding in the Chicagoland area and we are looking for experienced General Managers to support this growth! Our General Managers are integral to helping develop our retail store roadmap, processes and people as we grow. A successful candidate should have a passion for cooking, an entrepreneurial spirit, exceptional customer service skills, and strong track record of leadership to help us build the future of the Spice House.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overall store operations leading to on-target or superior financial performance against the annual budget, translating company financial goals into weekly and daily targets for the team
  • Energizes, motivates, and inspires team members to hit these financial targets through upselling/cross-selling, customer outreach, and customer engagement
  • Directly manage and develop talent within the store, providing real-time coaching and development by being side-by-side on the sales floor and leading by example
  • Delivers exceptional customer experiences and promotes a culture of customer service
  • Leads collaboration between the marketing team and store team to bring marketing stories and initiatives to life in the store through on-brand displays and merchandising
  • Create and oversee all special events at the retail location including monthly events, identifying partnerships (in conjunction with marketing) and Spice Talks (both Internal, external in store and external off site)
  • Build and maintain SOPs according to store needs and enforce established benchmarks
  • Manage store inventory levels in company systems, including receiving and documenting new inventory
  • Ensure quality standards are always being followed to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for our staff and customers

Requirements

  • 3-5 years in a store management capacity, high volume store preferred
  • Excellent leadership and coaching skills: able to manage and develop a team of sales associates to drive sales and ensure strong execution of the in-store experience
  • Strong communication skills: ability to communicate trends and customer feedback to the broader team
  • Hands on approach to day-to-day operations: selling, customer engagement, stocking and replenishing the store and stockroom, to set an example for the team
  • Strong customer service skills: greeting, upselling, email capture, etc
  • Absolute professionalism and ability to create a culture of professionalism in your store
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check as a condition of employment
  • Passion for food and flavor is a must!
