We are building an integrated marketing program that effectively communicates our brand purpose and drives both new customer acquisition and retention across web, retail, and wholesale channels and we are seeking a visionary VP of Marketing to execute against that vision. This is a critical hire for the business, and will be a senior member of the management team, reporting directly to the CEO.

Responsibilities and Duties

The VP of Marketing leads all marketing efforts for The Spice House, including overseeing the development, deployment, tracking, and analyzing of all marketing campaigns, but will also have the strategic vision to understand how those campaigns fit into a broader brand strategy. They will be responsible for:

  • Leading cross functional teams to bring campaigns and new product launches to market
  • Managing an internal team as well as freelancers, and agencies to maximize results across owned and paid channels, including SEO, paid media channels, SMS and email marketing
  • Developing and managing a marketing budget, allocating resources against paid media, brand initiatives, content creation, and more; reevaluating and reallocating marketing budget between channels based on performance 
  • Developing a paid marketing strategy and identifying paid channels to scale revenue while maintaining profitability
  • Owning marketing KPIs and digital attribution, measuring CAC, LTV and the ROI of our marketing spend and leveraging the insights from those KPIs to adjust campaigns and test new ideas
  • Developing and executing a retention strategy, leveraging Email and other channels, to increase repeat purchase and increase customer LTV
  • Overseeing the brand team, and ensuring integration between brand and paid initiatives
  • Testing new marketing channels to identify new growth opportunities
  • Overseeing the tech product roadmap in partnership with Tech to build out a full funnel experience and optimize the website for our customers
  • Partnering with Stores and Wholesale teams and developing strategies and materials to bring our brand to life in those channels
  • Ensuring our brand mission and values are communicated effectively and develop clear brand campaigns that are executed across all channels
  • Presenting plans for scaling the team at different stages of growth

Requirements

  • 10 years of marketing experience, with at least 2 in an eCommerce business
  • Experience scaling a brand through digital, retail, and wholesale channels
  • Excellent analytical skills with demonstrated experience turning data into actionable insights and recommendations
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to balance needs of multiple stakeholders
  • Experience in Food is a plus, passion for food and cooking is a must!
  • While we do offer remote working flexibility, we require at least 1-2 days/week of in person work at our Chicagoland offices
