What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Runner position at The Thermal Club?
BASIC PURPOSE:
To Serve our members in accordance with The Thermal Club standards of food and beverage quality in a detailed, professional, and pleasant manner. To display hospitality and professionalism to our members and to exhibit teamwork with management and co-workers. To comply with the food & beverage department’s standard operating procedures and The Thermal Club.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for maintaining all standard operating procedures.
- Responsible for flow management concentrating on busy areas first.
- Responsible for following all club rules and regulations.
- Responsible for inventory control through conscientious use and careful monitoring of all food and beverage products.
- Maintain good working relationship with teammates.
- Maintain professional relationship with members. Directly responsible for member/guest satisfaction.
- Work all special events that require food and beverage service.
- Responsible for detailed opening and closing duties.
- Reports to Dining room manager to receive instructions about menu and to obtain checks for writing orders; familiarizes self with menu, pay particular attention to "specials".
- Able to maintain a clean and organized work station including cutting bread, making butters, refilling ice, filling water pitchers, and polishing.
- Responsible for side work including helping in the kitchen, cafeteria, and wherever designated by the Executive Chef.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Anything deemed necessary by management.
- Fulfilling even the unexpressed wishes and needs of our members
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience:
Worker must be thoroughly familiar with American and foreign dishes and all types of alcoholic beverages. Must be able to pronounce the names of dishes. Must also know proper method of serving meals of all kinds.
Food prep and wine knowledge preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- 2 - 3 years dining room experience
- Fine Dining Experience Preferred

Lifting/Pushing/Pulling/Carrying: Carts, dollies, dishes, banquet equipment, tables, chairs.
Bending/Kneeling: Bending at the waist and at the knee throughout most of the shift.
Mobility: The ability to move on a number of surfaces sand, grass, pavement, indoors, outdoors, concrete.
Continuous Standing: Most of the shift is spent on the feet.
Climbing
Stairs: Up to approx. 10 steps 50 % of 8hours
Ladders: Up to approx. 10 steps .01 % of 8hours
Driving: May require driving a Food and Beverage golf cart, truck, or car.
