Pastry Chef/Baker

Baker Job Brief:

We are looking for someone that has a passion for baking. This would be a perfect fit for an at-home baker, someone attending culinary school or a cake decorator. This position will require you to prepare a variety of recipes and other items, and coordinate with the Kitchen Manager, to prepare from-scratch desserts, breads, sauces, dressings, and other recipes to specifications. The ideal candidate must have a flexible schedule and be willing to jump in on the line when needed. This position is ideal for a self-starter and task-oriented candidate. The job’s focus will be covering bakery prep items, however, there is opportunity to learn additional varieties of work tasks such as BBQ production and Banquet Event Orders which allows for a nice change of pace. They must adhere to health and safety standards to provide clients with the best possible service.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare a wide variety of from-scratch items following traditional and modern recipes.

• Follow instructions and complete tasks in a timely manner.

• Inform Kitchen Manager of production, ordering needs, etc.

• Monitor and maintain par levels for ingredients such as flour, sugar etc.

• Check the quality of material and condition of equipment and devices used for cooking.

• Maintain a clean and orderly cooking station and adhere to health and safety standards.

Requirements:

• Must obtain a Boone County Food Handler's card

• Previous experience as Pastry Cook, Baker or similar role

• Attention to detail

• Organization skills

• Willingness to add to professional knowledge

• Knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation, baking techniques and nutrition
