HPAS-Course Reserve Specialist

Research & Educational Support - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (22004243)
This position works as part of the University Library System Public and Access Services team in Hillman Library providing knowledgeable and courteous service for library users in locating and utilizing materials and resources effectively. This includes providing outstanding library services to patrons at the Donald S. Wood Service Desk by establishing a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere while providing high-quality ready reference and directional assistance to library users in-person, on-line, or via phone and instant messaging. As a member of the ULS team, the Library Specialist is expected to recognize, respect, and work effectively with diverse individuals and groups in all aspects of their work, and to proactively maintain a work environment that fosters equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging.In addition, this position maintains job responsibilities for the Hillman Library Course Reserves service which enables students to access course-related print and electronic resources required for class. The position also provides support in the ULS Course Reserves practitioners team which maintains best practices for services.Hours of work (general) are: fall/spring terms: Mon-Fri 6:30am - 3:00pm. Start time may be 4am with notice as needed to maintain Hillman Library service hours. Summer term: Mon-Fri 8am-4:30pm. Occasional weekend and University holiday hours as required.
Four years of college or four years relevant experience plus high school diploma/GED. Must have a strong academic background or relevant experience in order to answer basic reference questions and to have an understanding of the academic research process. Previous experience using computers is required as is the ability to use various platforms to maintain communication with supervisor and colleagues across locations. Previous experience providing excellent customer service is essential as is ability to adapt to changes in a positive manner. Previous library experience, although not required, is desirable.
