Summary of Duties: Under the immediate supervision of a Parks Supervisor or a Foreman perform skilled work related to maintenance and renovation of streetscapes or community grounds, parks and recreation facilities, pathways, landscape, open space reserves, cul-de-sacs, lakes, and ponds.
Essential Employee Responsibilities: During emergency conditions, subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation and are expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.
General Duties:
- Knowledge of general facilities and maintenance principles, practices, and methods.
- Talk to contractors and vendors to receive proper service and products for job duties.
- Determine appropriate type of material for use in minor repairs.
- Regularly respond to request for service alone and complete painting tasks in quick and efficient time frame.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment such as paint sprayers, scissor lifts, van ladders, and keep in safe and good working order.
- Report weekly the status of repairs and projects and respond to customer requests in a timely manner.
- Assist with construction of capital improvement program projects using technical skills of construction as it pertains to park, pathway, and sign improvements.
- Perform preventive maintenance and major repairs to community facilities and amenities.
- Concrete work through placement, finishing, modifying, construction parks & recreation related facilities such as playgrounds, picnic areas, pavilions, fishing docks, bridges, and pathways.
- Participate in emergency response teams.
- May be required to work special events on nights, weekends, or holidays.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Specific to Construction:
- General knowledge of site layout and construction including rough grading, placement of fill materials, slope, and drainage considerations.
- Operate all motorized equipment used in construction including large and small trucks, skid steers, ladder-truck, tractors, trenchers, and forklifts.
- Mix, pour and finish concrete for pathways, slabs, and bridges.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
Experience:
- Two (2) years of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Advanced knowledge of construction techniques that pertain to Parks amenities.
- Advanced focus on carpentry work and knowledge of concrete, and landscape installation and maintenance are a plus.
- Operate and maintain lawn mowers, lawn edgers, UTV and mechanical blower, brush/tree trimmers and chippers, air compressors, backhoes, farm tractors, vehicles up to 26000 GVWR, various hand and job-related power tools.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Must have a valid driver's license and meet the driver safety policy requirements.
