What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Office Assistant position at Thibodaux Regional Health System?
As directed by the physician, responsible for rendering professional clinical assistance to patients within the medical practice in support of the physician(s). Functions as a combination of Medical Assistant and Patient Account Representative. Works directly with a provider as a liaison between the patient and provider. The individual will be responsible for the scheduling, obtaining authorizations/pre-certs and coordinating charge entry processing for the physician. The individual will be responsible for answering inquiries from patients and insurance companies in a professional manner.
Educational and/or Professional Qualifications:

- Graduate of a medical assistant program is preferred.
- Two years prior experience working in a medical office required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to learn quickly from oral and written instructions.
- Typing skills required.
- Ability to keep financial records and performs mathematical tasks
- Demonstrates good interpersonal skills.
