Position Summary


We are seeking an experienced Medical Writer to join our team at a healthcare marketing firm specializing in patient and market access. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of therapeutic areas such as rare disease, oncology, and immunology and a passion for developing compelling, accurate, and strategically aligned content. This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality materials that drive awareness, education, and access for healthcare providers, payers, and patients.


Key Responsibilities


  • Content Development
    • Write and edit medical and scientific content, including white papers, case studies, slide decks, infographics, payer dossiers, and patient education materials.
    • Ensure content is scientifically accurate, compliant with regulatory standards, and aligned with client objectives.
    • Translate complex scientific concepts into clear, engaging, and actionable language for diverse audiences, including healthcare providers, payers, and patients.
  • Strategic Collaboration
    • Partner with account teams, strategy leads, and subject matter experts to understand client goals and audience needs.
    • Contribute to brainstorming sessions to ensure content supports overarching marketing and access strategies.
  • Therapeutic Expertise
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge in therapeutic areas such as rare diseases, oncology, immunology, and other relevant fields.
    • Conduct literature reviews and analyze clinical data to inform content development.
  • Compliance and Quality
    • Adhere to regulatory and industry standards (e.g., FDA, PhRMA guidelines).
    • Perform quality assurance checks to ensure all deliverables are free from errors and inconsistencies.


Qualifications


  • Education and Experience
    • Advanced degree (PhD, MD, PharmD) in a life science or healthcare-related field strongly preferred. A master’s degree combined with relevant experience will be considered.
    • 3–5 years of experience as a medical writer in a healthcare advertising agency, pharmaceutical company, or medical communications agency.
  • Therapeutic Knowledge
    • Proven expertise in rare diseases, oncology, immunology, or similar therapeutic areas.
  • Technical Skills
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
    • Familiarity with referencing tools (e.g., EndNote) and publication guidelines (e.g., AMA Manual of Style).
  • Core Competencies
    • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a strong eye for detail.
    • Ability to synthesize and communicate complex information effectively.
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.


Preferred Attributes

  • Experience working on market access, payer-focused, or patient-focused materials.
  • Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement landscapes and payer dynamics.
  • Understanding of health economics and outcomes research (HEOR).
