Financial Accountant

Threshold Visitor Management Systems, a division of Avery Products is looking for a Financial Accountant. You will need broad experience in accounting, finance, financial planning, and analysis, including experience of working in a small business.

What you will be doing:

• All accounting functions for the organization.
• Maintaining the General Ledger (effective management of accruals & journal entries.)
• Strong understanding of Balance Sheet accounting.
• Bank Account Management & reconciliation.
• Weekly, Monthly and Annual reporting and closings.
• Preparing monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements.
• Corporate Reporting for both the General Accounting team and Taxation team.
• Oversee inventory, freight, and cost accounting through monthly reporting & reconciliations.
• Cash management: monitor all customer refund requests and process refunds and credit and sales tax.
• Credit monitoring; set up, review, and recommend credit approval for new accounts.
• Perform monthly cost analysis to provide explanations for current trends, variations, etc.
• Assist with the preparation of the full year forecast by product line for interim forecast updates.
• Prepare monthly key performance metrics scorecard.
• Ad hoc analysis such as freight costs, labor rate analysis, etc.
• Works closely with the General Manager and other senior leaders on operating costs and business strategy.
• Work on Continuous Improvement Projects to increase efficiency and eliminate non-value-added work.
• Partner with the Senior Managers on preparation of the Annual Operating Plan, prepare supporting schedules for the Plan and be responsible for Solomon input of the Annual Budget.
• Represent the company as the on-site Human Resource professional in areas of compliance, hiring, employee performance evaluation procedures and day to day matters.

What you need to succeed:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, or Finance or equivalent experience.
• 3 - 5 years' experience working in Accounting Department.
• Solid experience working with financial systems/ERP.
• Knowledge of GAAP.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Effective problem-solving skills to identify and correct financial discrepancies.
• Technical accounting skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, including in-depth knowledge of Excel.
