Job Summary
The Receiving Supervisor is responsible for leading and overseeing the receiving team, ensuring the accurate inspection, documentation, and handling of materials and components critical to our manufacturing processes. This role ensures that all incoming goods meet quality, quantity, and specification requirements while maintaining precise inventory records. The Receiving Supervisor plays a vital role in supporting production schedules, managing material flow, and ensuring that the receiving area operates efficiently and safely.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead the receiving team to ensure timely and accurate receipt of raw materials, components, and supplies.
- Inspect incoming goods for quality, quantity, and compliance with specifications.
- Cross-check shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and other documentation.
- Accurately document and record all received materials in inventory management systems or databases.
- Oversee the labeling, tagging, and proper storage of received materials in designated warehouse or production areas.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers to resolve any discrepancies or issues with shipments.
- Coordinate with production scheduling to ensure the timely availability of materials for production.
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization of receiving and storage areas.
- Assist in periodic physical inventory counts and audits to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Ensure the receiving team follows all safety and quality standards in handling and storing materials.
- Provide training and guidance to new team members and evaluate team performance.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and inventory control procedures.
- Proven experience in supervising or managing a team, preferably in a receiving or warehouse environment.
- Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and effectively (certification preferred).
- Proficient computer skills, including experience with inventory management software or ERP systems.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and documentation.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage a team effectively.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with suppliers, carriers, and internal stakeholders.
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed to support production schedules.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in logistics or supply chain management is a plus.
- Proven experience as a receiving clerk or supervisor in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
- Working conditions may include working outside of a climate-controlled environment for long periods of time.
- PPE is required per company procedures and includes safety shoes, safety glasses and safety vest.
