Tides is a casual fine dining restaurant, serving guests modern oceanic-inspired cuisine. Qualifications
- Previous bartender experience: 2 years
- Intermediate level wine knowledge.
- Food Safety Certification through ServSafe.
- RBS (Responsible Beverage Service) Certification through ABC.
- Customer service driven, excellent organizational skills, and detail oriented.
- Ability to work well under pressure, resolve conflicts, prioritize tasks, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written skills.
- Positive attitude and ability to work well within a team.
Essential job functions
- Prepare drink orders according to specified recipes using measuring systems.
- Knowledge of standard drink recipes (e.g. Long Island Ice Tea, Cosmo, Manhattan, etc.)
- Help guests select food and beverages by providing a high-level walk through of the menu; sharing the chef's specials; suggesting appropriate food and wine/drink pairings; answering food preparation questions.
- Stay updated on current menu choices and ingredients, menu specials, and knowing if the kitchen staff is running out of any items, etc.
- Use the POS (point of sale) system to transmit orders by recording guests’ choices, identifying guest’s special dietary needs, and special requests.
- If the guest looks under 35, check their identification to confirm they meet the legal drinking age.
- Issue, open, and serve wine/champagne bottles.
- Attend to tables in the dining area.
- Adhere to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies.
- Set up/break down bar and maintain cleanliness.
- Prepare fresh garnishes for drinks.
- Wash soiled glassware.
- Secure liquors, beers, wines, coolers, cabinets, and storage areas.
- Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies.
- Count cash register at start and end of shift and complete required paperwork.
Physical Demands
Must be able to stand and exert fast-paced mobility for periods of up to five (5) hours in length. Must have good sense of balance, be able to bend and kneel, and can lift items frequently weighing up to 30 pounds.
