What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health Safety Loss Prevention (HSLP) Specialist position at Timberline Drilling Inc.?
Timberline Drilling, Inc. (TDI) has an immediate opening for a Health & Safety Loss Prevention Specialist based in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Health & Safety Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that our drill crews are operating in compliance with TDI standards and guidelines outlined by MSHA.
Responsibilities:
- Actively promote & drive the corporate safety vision of a Zero Incident Culture through fostering a Zero Incident Mindset, including but not limited to, employee safety observations, hazard recognition, and other employee engagement activities
- Develop, implement and manage policies, procedures, and programs consistent with MSHA requirements
- Execute safety-related training curriculum development and presentations associated with company policies, MSHA requirements, new employee safety orientations, and routine safety training
- Complete drill site inspections/audits of various safety programs
- Facilitate and maintain job hazard analyses
- Lead and/or participate in incident investigations as required
- Support the on-site Operations Management team, including safety risk assessment evaluations
- Manage employee health policies and initiatives, including but not limited to injury management, accident investigations and corrective action plans to minimize the effect of injuries on the employee and the company incident rate metrics
- Provide leadership to safety team meetings and/or auxiliary projects.
- Respond to corporate TDI requests as necessary
- Ensure internal auditing is performed and confirms compliance and adherence to site standards/procedures.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in core drilling / mining industry is preferred.
- MSHA Certified Instructor (blue card) preferred
- Strong leadership, verbal and written communication skills
- Strong technical / analytical skills, the ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities and the ability to work in a cooperative, team-oriented atmosphere
- Strong initiative, focus and follow-through skills
- Strong computer skills in standard office software programs
- Effective organization and planning skills
- Mechanical aptitude
