Overview

Payroll Specialist II

Savannah, GA

The TMX Finance® Family of Companies is looking for a Payroll Specialist II to join our team and perform a wide variety of record keeping and payroll processing activities. This includes computing wage and overtime payments, calculating, and recording payroll deductions, processing requests for paycheck advances, and processing terminations. You will work under general supervision and serve as backup for the Payroll team, as needed, operating all departmental equipment. Although duties normally follow established procedures, your responsibilities may include routine or minor corrections to make documents acceptable for processing.

Responsibilities

  • Review and process workflows requests and print adjustments daily.
  • Verify garnishments, bankruptcies, and lien entries.
  • Manage payroll processing for an assigned division of the TMX organization.
  • Process supplemental payrolls as necessary.
  • Run and distribute store reports to Regional Vice Presidents after each payroll.
  • Research and respond to inquiries.
  • Verify manual check entries and print checks as necessary.
  • Report manual checks and supplemental payrolls to Benefits daily.
  • Monitor payroll, expense tracking system, and fax email inboxes and respond as needed.
  • Create custom reports as requested.
  • Conduct duties as needed by payroll or other Human Capital departments.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, or equivalent
  • Requires 4-5 years of related experience and requires some bookkeeping, accounting, payroll training
  • Knowledge of Federal Laws as they relate to Payroll, FLSA, worker status, employee taxes and benefits
  • Successful maintenance of financial or statistical records and experience in payroll
  • Filing and strong math skills
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including heavy focus on Microsoft Excel
  • Advanced knowledge of basic pay calculations (i.e. gross to net, overtime) and involuntary/voluntary deductions
  • Physical demands for this position frequently include: the ability to remain in a stationary position, move about freely inside and occasionally outside of the office, and the operation of mechanical controls, such as a keyboard

  • College level courses in HR, Business or Accounting
  • FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification)
