Finishing Department Grinder/ Polisher

TOPS Staffing has partnered with a well established production company who has a large hiring need for grinding and casting clean up employees to add to their finishing department.

Main duties of this position are to inspect castings, and chip and grind excess material off to get them to company specifications.

Regular opportunity for overtime in this position, you can expect to work 50 hrs on a somewhat regular basis, more available if you want the hours.

This is a physically demanding job, and will require candidates to pass a fitness type exam (HPE testing) before starting.

Job Details:
DIRECT HIRE OPPORTUNITY! Get hired on directly by our client from your first day, no contract period with TOPS.
Daylight Shift: $20.30, Daylight: 6am to 2pm
Afternoon Shift:$21.37, Afternoon: 2pm to 10pm
Night Shift: $21.37, Night 10pm to 6am


Duties/Responsibilities:

• Use grinders or chipping hammers to remove excess steel, bevel, round or straighten edges, and remove defects, burrs and holes in order to meet product specifications.
• inspect the final product using production gauges.
• Positions castings on work bench using hoist.
• Visually inspects castings and mark areas for touch up.
• Positions and manually guides grinder or chipping hammer along specified guidelines on edge or surface of castings.
• Use of a measuring device to check tolerance and specs.
• Verify number and type of casting to be prepared for shipment.
• Performs general housekeeping /clean up in work.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent or AS degree
• 1 years of related work experience or AS degree in related field
• Ability to operate jib crane, grinder (willing to train)

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods standing and performing repetitive tasks.
• Must be able to lift up to 40lbs to move finished units
• Job requires you to pass a pre-employemnt physical and Human Performance Evaluation test
• Job requires wearing a respirator
