Job Description

Summary : The System’s Integration Developer is responsible for overseeing the IT operations of TorHoerman Law LLC. This position will report directly to the firm’s partnership group as well as the ownership group of SimplyConvert with shared responsibilities between both companies. This is a hybrid position, located in Edwardsville, IL.

Salary : $70,000 / Annually

ESSENETIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ensure the firm is compliant with legal industry standards for IT security and confidentiality, including but not limited to maintain adherence to American Bar Association’s rules for client confidentiality and data protection.
  • Manage cyber security initiatives such as encryption, two-factor authentication, secure communication protocols and regular vulnerability assessments to mitigate risks to client and firm data.
  • Collaborate with firm management to ensure IT systems align with industry standards including (but not limited to) e-discovery obligations, data retention laws and privacy standards.
  • Evaluate and recommend new legal technologies, such as artificial intelligence tools for document review, contract analysis or e-discovery to improve the firm’s efficiency.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies that can enhance the firm’s performance.
  • Work with firm staff on set-up and maintenance of physical and digital systems to help the proficiency of the firm.
  • Lead and contribute to software architecture, design, and coding.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership in software architecture, design, and coding, contributing to the development of high-quality software applications.
  • Manage the software development lifecycle of interior systems and ensure scalability and security.

Supervisory Responsibilities : May be assigned.

Qualification Requirements :

  • Proficiency with legal specific software i.e. case management systems and experience managing high-security IT environments.

  • Proficiency in programming, cloud platforms, cybersecurity and DevOps.
  • Experience in a law firm, corporate legal department or legal services industry.
  • Education and Experience :

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science or related field. 5 years of IT experience in a professional environment, with legal tech experience preferred.
  • Language Skills :

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to management, and public groups.

    Mathematical Skills :

    Ability to apply concepts of basic math.

    Reasoning Ability :

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

    Computer Skills :

    Strong computer proficiencies are essential must possess a strong working knowledge of Microsoft suite as well as project management programs.
