Summary
The Inventory Planner will assist in developing effective inventory strategies for Tosoh Bioscience, Inc. (TBI). The Inventory Planner will make projections, recommendations and plans for purchasing inventory that maximizes profitability by minimizing customer backorders and shelf-life shrinkage. The position will work closely with the Warehouse Manager to communicate incoming shipments, warn of shortages and address emergency deliveries as well as Sales Leadership to understand forecast and changes to customer order patterns. Understanding the internal process of the parent company and maintaining accurate, timely and positive correspondence is tantamount to success since most products sold in the America’s are produced by the parent company in Japan.
Major Duties and Responsibilities

Create the forecast/Demand requirement for the business using all available data sources including, but not limited to historical sales trends and sales forecasts.

Issue purchase orders and actively support the full procure to-pay cycle.

Follow-up PO acknowledgement, delivery status and solve delivery problems and schedule changes.

Proactively identify, alert, resolve and communicate back-order situations across the organization.

Balance the need to avoid product back-orders with the need to reduce scrap from product expiration.

Maintain ERP inventory master files to proper min/max reorder points, safety stock, etc. are loaded.

Identify, evaluate, investigate and select vendors for misc. purchases.

Establish best practices in purchasing and inventory management and document the processes.

Establish a purchasing process that ensures business is meeting customer requirements and ship dates according to sales forecast, demand, or customer ordering pattern.

Tracking the increase and decrease in demand and taking appropriate actions.

Demand Monitoring & Controlling: -- Maintain and report Demand Planning KPIs, such as forecast accuracy, OTD, Capability etc.

Develop new strategies to reduce backorders, reduce scrap, streamline processes & reduce cost.

Lead and maintain meetings, reviews and communicate about project status.

Other duties and projects as assigned by management.
Education

B.S. Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Logistics or Operations or other- related field is preferred.
Skills and Qualifications

Five plus years of related experience in Inventory Planning, Demand Planning, Global Sourcing/Purchasing, Supply Chain

Experience working with suppliers in Japan a plus.

Demonstrated experience with inventory control, procurement processes, materials management, and supplier relationship management.

Strong analytical skills, strategic understanding of financial measurements, presentation, and ability to function and interact with a cross functional team.

Excellent leadership skills, including the ability to set goals, motivate and manage conflict.

Good project management skills, including strong decision-making, problem solving and strategic planning abilities.

Comfortable using inventory management software/ERP and other computer applications.

Exceptional time management and organizational skills

Excellent communications skills and aptitude in supporting diverse teams and influence crossfunctionally are necessary as is the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Experience in a regulated environment including FDA, ISO 13485, ISO 9001 is desired, but not required.
