The Senior Communications Associate plays a key role in sharing Addison’s story by developing compelling content for a variety of platforms, with a strong emphasis on video production. This position will support the Town’s strategic communications efforts by creating engaging and informative digital content that highlights Addison’s unique character, events, and initiatives.
- Plays a key role in the Marketing and Tourism team, with the mission of implementing the Strategic Communications and Marketing plan, serving as a central resource for information from an overarching city and community perspective.
- Create, produce, and edit high-quality videos for use on the Town’s website, social media channels, and other digital platforms.
- Manage all aspects of video production, including scripting, shooting, and post-production.
- Write, edit, and proofread communications materials such as press releases, newsletters, social media posts, and website content.
- Write presentations, articles, and talking points for a variety of city officials.
- Collaborate with various departments to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communication channels.
- Develop and execute marketing and communications plans for city programs and activities.
- Monitor and analyze the performance of digital content, providing insights and recommendations for optimization.
- Support crisis communication efforts, including serving as Town spokesperson, as needed.
- May be asked to perform additional job duties that are directly, indirectly or completely unrelated to normal job functions in the course of presenting certain Town special events.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field; AND
- Five (5) years of professional experience in communications, public relations, or digital media, with demonstrated expertise in video production; OR
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Safe driving record and valid Texas Driver’s License.
- Clear Criminal Background check and pre-employment drug screen.
- Advanced proficiency in video production, including filming, editing, and post-production using software such as Adobe Premiere Pro or similar tools.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor content for diverse audiences and platforms.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
- Knowledge of social media platforms and content strategies.
- Ability to work within cross-functional teams and with external partners to share information effectively.
- Familiarity with public sector communications is preferred.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for events or programs.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
PHYSICAL AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a standard office environment. Office is located in a two-story building without an elevator. Work is generally performed indoors in an air-conditioned facility but may also include limited exposure to outside weather conditions. This is an exempt position; incumbent will be expected to work whatever hours are necessary to complete responsibilities.
