Lifeguard- Aquatics Division
PAY: $15.85 per hour

What You’ll Do At Work

Monitor activities in swimming areas to enforce rules, prevent accidents, and provide assistance to patrons.
Perform lifesaving rescues, first aid, and CPR as necessary.
Inspect the pool, pool area, equipment, and supplies and report problems.
Assist in the maintenance and cleanliness for the pool facilities and surrounding areas.
Provide outstanding customer service to a diverse group of individuals.
Attend monthly in-service trainings and maintain swimming fitness.
Other related tasks as assigned.
Where You’ll Work
The work is typically performed at an indoor or outdoor pool facility.
Physical Demands
The work requires intermittent sitting, standing or stooping and the ability to maintain focus for up to 60 minutes at a time. The employee uses equipment that requires a high degree of dexterity and medium strength. The employee is required to lift a minimum of 10 pounds regularly.

You Should Apply if You (minimum requirements)
Are at least 15 years of age or older.
An equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the job
Knowledge Of:
- First Aid and CPR
- Basic Lifesaving Skills
- Proper usage of emergency water safety equipment such as backboards and rescue tubes
- Basic pool chemicals and water testing procedures
- Relevant town codes and department rules and regulations
Ability to:
- Swim 300 yards, tread water for 2 minutes without use of arms, and retrieve brick from 9' depth
- Complete fitness swim every two weeks
- Attend monthly in-service trainings, be rescue ready and stay current with all certifications
- Read, write and perform mathematical calculations
- Read, write, speak and understand English
- Supervisory Responsibilities
- With advanced experience, position may require direction of other temporary employees.
Current certification in Lifeguarding, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and First Aid by the American Red Cross.
This classification has been designated as Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
