JOB TITLE: Seasonal Fitness Instructor – Various
REPORTS TO: Parks and Recreation Operations Supervisor
SALARY RANGE: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour based on experience

SUMMARY:
Bring the hype and guide our participants to their best selves. The Fitness Instructor position is an integral part of the Town of Wellington Parks and Recreation and is responsible for creating inclusive and engaging fitness classes in their specialty for participants to engage in. Classes could include but are not limited to Yoga, Zumba, Karate, Dance Lessons (of any kind), bodyweight workouts, etc. These classes will be held in the Leeper Center. We do not have a Rec Center or Gym spaces for classes. There is an opportunity for outdoor classes and events.
TYPICAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

· Lead, motivate, and develop safe and adaptable exercise routines or classes for varying ages and fitness levels from beginning to end.
· Assist in the preparation and oversight of Wellington Parks and Recreation programs and services according to class type.
· Learn registration software and help assist customers with registrations and payments on site. Performs cash handling procedures and assures compliance with Town financial policies.
· Clean and prepare the room before classes and reset the space back when classes are complete.
· Prepare music and other curriculum materials for classes.
· Hold and maintain an instructor certification for any class interested in teaching – or equivalent if no recognized certification exists. Must provide valid certification documents upon request.
· Ability to establish and maintain strong relations with participants to increase or maintain attendance. Develop and implement new programs to follow the current trends of the fitness industry.
· When requested, attend special events to promote fitness programs.
· Assistant in maintaining and organizing inventory of necessary Parks and Recreation fitness equipment.
· Attend staff meetings and trainings.
· Enforce and maintain Town policies; answer questions and respond to complaints and concerns. Explain and enforce facility and/or program rules, policies, and procedures while positively representing the Town of Wellington Parks and Recreation Department.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
· Must pass criminal history check.
· Must pass motor vehicle records check.
· Must possess a valid driver’s license.
· Must participate in direct deposit.
START DATE: Immediately upon successful background and motor vehicle test.
WORKING HOURS: Variable including weekdays, afternoons, evening, nights, weekends, and holidays.
DURATION: This position is defined as seasonal with funding through the end of the year (12/2024). However, this position could be retained with continued funding and need.
