Trans Ova Genetics, a member of the URUS Group, provides industry-leading reproductive technologies and expertise to cattle breeders through a unique professional services team that works closely with clients to understand their breeding goals and ultimately help clients advance and extend superior genetics. Trans Ova Genetics understands the process that will help multiply a herd’s genetic success. Reproductive technologies such as embryo transfer, in-vitro fertilization (IVF), sexed-semen, genetic preservation, and cloning are considered the reproductive “tools” available for breeders looking to achieve specific breeding and reproductive goals. Internationally recognized as a source of superior animal husbandry and reproductive expertise, Trans Ova Genetics offers an integrated system of regional centers, satellite stations, and on-farm application of reproductive technologies.
Trans Ova's headquarters are in Sioux Center, Iowa, but we have many offices and satellite centers across the country. What you will do:
- Responsible for multiplying the success of client breeding programs by producing embryos from their donor cows and pregnancies in their recipient cows.
- Provide services for Trans Ova Genetics’ western region specifically in Idaho and Utah, but also provide coverage for other regions of the company as needed.
- Perform ultrasound guided transvaginal ovum pickup procedures for bovine IVF embryo production.
- Transfer bovine embryos and achieve consistent conception rates.
- Review and design superovulation and synchronization protocols for donors and recipients.
- Monitor and adhere to biosecurity and animal welfare programs on the farms.
- Evaluate pregnancy status in recipients post-implant using ultrasonography to evaluate the gender in embryo transfer and in-vitro fetuses and to evaluate the number and viability of fetuses in cows.
- Monitor and adhere to biosecurity and animal welfare programs on the farm.
- Monitor compliance of herd health and SOP documents relative to the export of bovine embryos.
- Utilize bovine embryo transfer equipment and materials, bovine follicular aspiration equipment and materials, and bovine ultrasound equipment and materials.
- Position requires domestic travel up to 50% as needed and customary for the occupation.
- Position allows for work from home in Idaho and Utah. Headquarters located at 2938 380th St., Sioux Center, IA 51250.
- The position requires a Doctor in Veterinary Medicine or foreign equivalent degree.
- The qualified candidate must have at least 3 years (36 months) of experience in a bovine reproduction specialist position or closely related occupation.
- The qualified candidate must also have at least 3 years (36 months) of experience with all of the following: (a) performing ultrasound guided transvaginal ovum pickup procedures for bovine IVF embryo production; (b) transferring bovine embryos and achieving consistent conception rates; (c) reviewing and designing superovulation and synchronization protocols for donors and recipients; (d) monitoring and adhering to biosecurity and animal welfare programs on farms; (e) evaluating pregnancy status in recipients post-implant using ultrasonography; and (f) utilizing bovine embryo transfer equipment and materials, bovine follicular aspiration equipment and materials, and bovine ultrasound equipment and materials.
- All experience may be gained concurrently.
