Ensure that Trans Ova animal oversight aligns with state and federal veterinary requirements.

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Capable of lifting minimum of 50 lbs.
Capable of standing for extended periods.
Other Skills/experience
Full current accreditation with the USDA – APHIS.
Interest and 3-5 years of experience in bovine medicine and surgery.
Strong sense of connecting with people and facilitating workplace satisfaction.

Ensure that Trans Ova animal oversight aligns with state and federal veterinary requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Animal Care Consults
- Provide consult and assist dairy calf production team to deliver high quality calves to our customers.
- Monitor the preventative medicine programs, nutrition, and overall herd health of TOG animal management programs.
- Assist with team member training on SOPs and animal husbandry in order to provide excellent animal care.
- Educate, monitor, and continue to improve the biosecurity programs on Trans Ova farms.
- Resource for technical medical information in supporting members of the Professional Service team, clients, Donor and Recipient Herdsmen, and Calving Herdsman.
- Perform special surgeries as needed for production, and R/D projects as needed (fetal removals, C-sections, umbilical repair, etc.).
- Evaluate pregnancy status in recipients post-implant using ultrasonography to:
- Evaluate pregnancy status at 40-days pregnancy diagnosis.
- Identify number of viable fetuses and identify potential deformities at 60 day pregnancy diagnosis.
- Evaluate fetal gender at 60 days.
- Perform rectal palpations to evaluate reproductive status of incoming and backgrounded recipient cows.
- Provide veterinary supervision as needed for anesthesia, surgical procedures, and assist in technique development for production procedures as needed.
- Ensure TOG managed animals are examined and treated within 24 hours of a need being reported by a TOG veterinarian.
- Facilitate on call emergency support for herd needs after hours and on weekends in conjunction with the TOG Vet Services Team.
- Perform tests and exams and complete paperwork necessary for release and interstate movement of animals.
- Offer insight and support for regulatory issues regarding herd health.
- Review, implement, and monitor serological testing and vaccination SOPs of animals residing in the clinics.
- Examine and administer treatments as needed to donor and recipient cows and calves within 24 hours of being reported.
- Conduct regular team meetings and provide a forum for continuous improvement and effective team communication.
- Engage in regular 1 on 1 sessions with direct reports to support personal development, team member goal achievement, and coaching as needed.
- Act as or delegate representative to be VS liaison with PS team, live calf team, and gestation team.
- Follows Trans Ova’s policies and procedures.
- Maintains a professional image reflective of Trans Ova’s industry position.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
