What are the responsibilities and job description for the Foster Family Agency Resource Family Specialist position at Transitions Children's Services?
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Foster Family Agency Administrator and Intensive Services Foster Care (ISFC) Supervisor, provides direct care support services to children and youth in foster care to help ensure stabilization of placement, linkage to services and/or successful transition to independent living.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provides community based behavioral management support to identified children in foster care in need of intensive services and their families. Supports progress towards child’s Individualized Treatment Plan goals. Communicates effectively with foster family agency social worker and/or county case managers regarding a child’s treatment plans, progress, and information pertaining to any incidents that may occur in or out of the resource home.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited or state approved college, in social work or social welfare, marriage, family, and child counseling, child psychology, child development, counseling psychology or social psychology.
Child Abuse Index Clearance, FBI and Department of Justice Criminal Record Clearance required. Upon hire, must be able to pass First Aid and CPR within 30 days of start date and must submit a current health screening - including TB clearance. Must have and maintain a valid California Driver's License, automobile insurance coverage and have access to an automobile that is in safe operating condition.
SPECIAL ATTRIBUTES:
Strong psychosocial assessment skills; minimal supervision regarding use of time, able to prioritize work assignments; ability to communicate effectively with professionals and clients/families and ability to make sound decisions. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position typically functions indoors in an office environment with light to moderate noise associated with business office equipment. The employee will frequently visit resource family homes and other locations, where exposure to noise, smoke and other hazards may be possible. The position involves frequent local travel and occasional out-of-town travel.
