Job Summary and Qualifications
Coordinates key operating functions within department, which may include clerical duties, record and file management, scheduling, payroll, purchasing, safety and billing. Coordinates and schedules multidisciplinary patient appointments. Maintains a close working relationship with physician offices and leaders. Maintains and evaluates the current blocks for the surgeons in the Operating Room. Audits charges and reports, maintains preference cards, maintains and validates critical patient and surgical services information. Works with Finance and Nursing Informatics/HIM. Provides computer expertise to assist with OR and Endo documentation and CPOE.
What qualifications you will need:
- Required Education: Highschool Diploma or GED
- Preferred Education: Associate's Degree
- Required Experience: Previous experience working in a hospital setting. Must have strong computer skills and maintain accuracy. Must possess multi-tasking, critical thinking, excellent customer relations and phone skills. Expertise in Cerner documentation. Understand medical terminology.
- Preferred Experience: Previous surgery scheduling experience in a hospital setting, and having additional knowledge in data entry and CPT/ICD 10 coding. Completed a medical terminology course.
