Trevor Day School is seeking a part-time Middle School Band Teacher for the 2025-2026 academic year. Candidates should be prepared to teach both new and experienced band students in the 6th through 8th grades. Teaching duties will include leading 6th-, 7th-, and 8th-grade ensembles, running sectional rehearsals for 6th-grade students, preparing for and conducting two concerts, and leading the pit band for our annual musical production, which includes student musicians. In addition, the position includes serving as an advisor to a group of Middle School students. All Trevor teachers are expected to participate actively in the school's daily life.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- A minimum of three years experience in teaching band.
- Experience in teaching woodwind, brass, percussion, guitars, and keyboard instruments. Experience in teaching string instruments is a plus.
- Experience in conducting large ensembles.
- Comprehensive knowledge of instrumental repertoire.
- Ability to arrange and score music as needed based on the instrumentation of the ensemble and experience level of the musicians, using programs such as Sibelius and Dorico.
- Adept at designing and delivering lessons that challenge and inspire students.
- Experience differentiating instruction to accommodate a range of learning styles.
- Proficiency with using technology to enhance classroom learning.
- Enthusiasm for collaborating with colleagues on lesson planning and innovative curriculum development.
- Proven ability to form strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

The school's salary range for full-time faculty positions is $55,000-$176,000, as per the school's salary scale. Part-time faculty positions are compensated at a proportion of this range.
