Mobile Outreach Worker
Position Overview:
The Outreach Worker must be comfortable with and willing to go into neighborhoods and sections of the City of Memphis with the Mobile Outreach program. Generally, these areas may be viewed as undesirable by the general public. Additionally, the Outreach Worker must be able to interact with staff and patients of various populations. The Outreach Worker must have the highest regard for client privacy and confidentiality as mandated by all appropriate state and federal laws. Must be willing to take advantage of training opportunities including certifications and other such designations appropriate to the job. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and eligibility to secure agency provided insurance.
Job Description:
- Conduct training (staff, patients, clients, community groups).
- Facilitate and administer educational activities, programs and services including group sessions focusing on preventive care, individual intervention and counseling sessions, demonstrations on condom usage and negotiation skills.
- In collaboration with Mobile Outreach team members, develop presentations, educational lessons, and related learning materials (ex: event booth activities, educational literature, giveaways, etc.) for use in outreach activities.
- Coordinate meetings and related activities with Tri-State Community Health Center’s Outreach stakeholders, including the Citizens Advisory Committee, hauling customers, Memphis and Shelby County and surrounding areas residents, and others as directed. Responsibilities include coordination of logistics and development of presentations and related materials (ex: agendas, presentation handouts, educational literature, etc.).
· Conduct outreach in the following settings: street, jails prisons, treatment facilities, community health fairs, community events (festival and other celebration)
- Proactively seeks opportunities and for hands-on experiences (events, tours, presentations, workshops) for Tri-State Community Health Center’s Outreach participation with an expectation of growing the number and type of activities and audiences and people engaged through these experiences.
- Other duties as assigned.
Outreach Worker Requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
· Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in health or behavioral sciences or a related are preferred, but not required. Experience may substitute for education.'
Skills:
· Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to establish and maintain effective communication with a variety of people including professionals, administrators, clients, agency staff, and the general community. Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
- Excellent public speaking, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and project management skills.
- Wide degree of creativity and ability to find creative approaches to projects.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $3,700.00 - $4,167.00 per month
