What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimator position at Tri-State Drywall LLC?
Objective
To secure profitable work consistent with company budgets established for each estimator.
General
Perform a variety of duties that may change often. Think logically and use good judgment. Communicate well, both orally and in writing. Understand and use mathematics and engineering principles and methods. Visualize three-dimensional objects and procedures from drawing or diagrams. Look at flat drawings or pictures and understand how they would look as solid objects. See detail in objects or drawings and recognize slight differences in shapes and shadings. Rate information using personal judgment. Perform work accurately. Work within precise limits and standards of accuracy. Rate information using measurable verifiable standards. See details and recognize errors in numbers, spelling, and punctuation in written material, charts or tables.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Review job assignments with chief estimator.
- Review clients scope and unusual and lead-time items.
- Read applicable specs pertaining to scope and note particular requirements, i.e. deflection and wind pressure of studs, stud gage, items of supply requiring long lead time, subcontractors, schedule, etc.
- Perform initial cursory review of drawings to familiarize yourself.
- Note all applicable specs and drawings from GC transmittal and verify receipt.
- Prepare takeoff pages in the following manner: Partitions, columns, fascias, drywall ceilings, doors, frames, hardware, misc., roof blocking, light gauge framing, unusual scope items and acoustic ceilings.
- Enter takeoff into Timberline. Adjust computer takeoff for material and labor.
- Review estimate with chief estimator.
- Write proposal and submit to secretary for typing.
- Submit bid.
- Follow-up with bid with phone call to customer to secure job.
