CalWORKs CASE MANAGER
Non-Exempt ~ Full-time ~ Onsite
Hiring Range: $23.50 - $27.00 per hour
(5% pay differential for fluent Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Hindi, or Tagalog bilingual language skills)

General Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Shelter Manager, the CalWORKs Case Manager plans and provides safety planning, job training and advocacy for CalWORKs clients. Also plans and provides life skills training, such as nutrition, budgeting, anger management, conflict management, safe-sex issues, and advocacy for women who are survivors of domestic violence.
General Requirements: Bachelor’s degree and one-year related experience. Strong computer skills and teaching abilities. Completion of Agency Training within 6 months of employment (if not before).
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
I PROVIDE SERVICES TO CalWORKs CLIENTS VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
- Report to Shelter Manager & responsible for keeping the manager current on client and program status.
- Provide support to sheltered and drop-in CalWORKs participants.
- Under the terms of CalWORKs domestic violence collaborative contract works with TVH staff (shelter or community building) to coordinate services for these clients and their children.
- Develop long-term safety planning with CalWORKs participants provided within the context of job readiness services and post-employment intervention.
- Provide Advocacy for CalWORKs clients.
- Administer CalWORKs Client Assistance fund when needed.
- Attend CalWORKs Collaborative meetings.
- Responsible for networking with the necessary Alameda County Offices to promote and provide services for CalWORKs clients.
- Keep accurate documentation on each CalWORKs client according to the contract.
- Prepare and email monthly report/billing for CalWORKs by the 10th of the month to the Contracts Manager.
- Must comply will all laws including CPS, elder abuse reporting, 5150 laws and suicide assessment.
II. PROVIDE SERVICES TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CLIENTS
- Develop and implement curriculum of various life skills topics for weekly classes, utilizing various presentation mediums - including Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Prevention issues.
- Provide office coverage at domestic violence shelter; enforce house rules; answer crisis line.
- Screen and assess appropriateness of clients and make referrals as needed.
- Provide case management, support & advocacy to shelter residents
- Records all client services provided to callers & residents on OS Soft.
- Send out Staff logs at the end of the shift.
- Provides back-up support to other TVH sites as needed.
III. GENERAL TASKS
- Performs general tasks as needed and represent Tri-Valley Haven in a professional manner.
- Sign up for the Backup shift at least once a quarter.
- Responsible for keeping rooms and shelter facilities safe, clean, tidy and in a good state.
- Submit requests for maintenance when needed (plumbing, electrical or repair in general).
- Work closely with the DV staff team in maintaining peace & harmony in the shelter.
- Participate in community fundraising and special events as required.
- Attend weekly DV meetings and monthly All staff meetings
- Must have reliable means of transportation and auto insurance to be able to drive as necessary for agency related business, including transportation of clients.
- Must maintain a good Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) to be able to drive for the agency.
