Summary

The position of Director of Nursing for the Associate of Science in Nursing program requires an individual who can provide leadership, program oversite, accreditation requirements and excellence in teaching, interested in both their students and their subjects. He/she must be committed to the centrality of a Trine University education. Reporting to the Executive Director of Nursing and the Dean of the Brooks College of Health Professions, the Director of Nursing should have a broad understanding of appropriate academic programs and potential future directions; be flexible, visionary, creative and energetic; and want students to excel and take pleasure in their success. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Specifically, the Director of Nursing will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Program planning and development
    • Collaborate with the Executive Director of Nursing to develop and implement strategic plans to inspire and connect diverse stakeholders with a shared vision for the ASN program
    • Assess the needs and coordinate the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of instructional material and curricula within the ASN program
    • Participate in advisory board meetings for the nursing unit
  • Program organization and administration
    • Supervise ASN faculty and staff
    • Coordinate faculty recruitment efforts and recommend the appointment of academic personnel with the Executive Director of Nursing
    • Evaluate, mentor, and foster the development of faculty and staff
    • Implement and manage the policies and procedures of the ASN program
    • Participate in faculty committee meetings for the nursing unit
    • Support student recruitment, admission, and retention for the ASN program in collaboration with University enrollment staff
  • Fiscal management of the program
    • Preparation and management of the annual program budget
    • Procurement and allocation of the nursing unit’s resources and budget for the purpose of facilitating achievement of the mission, goals, core values, and expected outcomes
    • Collaboration with University administration in grant procurement
  • Continuous programmatic review and analysis
    • Complete program evaluation with analysis of data to improve instructional and program quality
    • Adherence to University goals, standards, and policies as well as nursing accreditation standards and policies
  • Program accreditation processes
    • Collaborate with the Executive Director of Nursing in completion of required accreditation documents for the Indiana State Board of Nursing and national nursing accreditor(s)
    • Provide oversight, coordination, and support for the accreditation of the ASN program
  • Instruction
    • Teach six credit hours per 12-month contract
    • Provide excellence in teaching with adherence to University policies and protocol
  • Perform additional duties and assignments as prescribed by the Executive Director of Nursing and the dean of the College of Health Professions

Education and/or Experience

  • A Master of Nursing degree from an accredited university
  • An earned doctorate degree in nursing, education, or relevant discipline from an accredited university is preferred
  • An active, unincumbered registered nurse license in the State of Indiana
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in a full-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities at the associate level; experience with online pedagogy preferred
  • A minimum of three years documented clinical experience as a registered nurse with leadership experience
  • Documented scholarship (e.g., scholarship of application, scholarship of teaching, scholarship of integration, and scholarship of discovery)

Salary

The salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
