Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate PRN Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team at Trinity Care. As a PRN DSP, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals battling substance use disorders. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team, including counselors and medical professionals, to ensure clients receive the care and assistance they need to succeed in their recovery journey.
Schedule: PRN (as needed basis), with flexibility required, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Care & Support
- Assist in the intake and assessment process for new clients entering the program.
- Support clients in adhering to individualized treatment plans, therapeutic activities, and goals.
- Monitor client well-being throughout the day and provide ongoing emotional, physical, and behavioral support.
- Offer crisis intervention and de-escalation when needed to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment.
- Support clients in developing life skills and promoting positive social interactions.
Therapeutic Support
- Help implement treatment strategies and track client progress.
- Document client interactions, progress, and any incidents accurately and in a timely manner.
Monitoring & Safety
- Ensure compliance with treatment protocols, including drug testing and medication management.
- Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, and structured environment.
- Observe clients’ behaviors and report any concerns to the clinical team.
Team Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with clinical and medical teams to ensure effective care coordination.
- Communicate client progress, challenges, and updates to leadership and staff members.
- Collaborate with the team to create a holistic treatment plan for each client.
Training & Professional Development
- Participate in ongoing training and development to stay current with best practices in substance abuse treatment.
- Adhere to facility policies and maintain client confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 6 months of relevant and related experience
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
- CPI certification (or willingness to attain within 30 days of hire)
- Certification in substance abuse counseling or a related field preferred
- Previous experience in a residential substance abuse treatment facility or similar healthcare setting preferred.
- Med Tech certification a plus
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Understanding of addiction recovery principles and challenges
- Compassionate, patient, and non-judgmental approach to care
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must pass a background check and drug screening
