Position: Choir Director
Status: part-time (estimated 5-12 hours a week, 10 month position, August through May)
Reports to: Pastor
Purpose: The Choir Director is responsible for directing all vocal, and hand-bell choirs at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Responsibilities:
- Direct all vocal, handbell choirs, and other musical ensembles.
- Help maintain resource libraries of educational music.
- Work with the Pastor, Worship committee, and organist in the planning of worship including selection of music related to the lectionary and liturgical seasons.
- Communicate with choir members, and parents regarding practices and worship schedule.
- Assist in recruiting members to the choirs.
- Report to Congregational Council.
- Maintain schedules of the music programs
- Order musical resources for the choir.
- Comply with the Safe Church Policy

General Description:
Trinity Lutheran Church is seeking a team member who will assist in worship leadership though various musical groups within the congregations. This includes both vocal and handbell choirs of various ages. The Director of Choirs will work with Pastor, Worship Committee, and the Organist to plan choir pieces, lead practices, and direct the choirs during worship. Additionally, the Director of Choirs will coordinate with the Christian Education Committee to find rehearsal times that fit well with the programming schedule.
Program Scope:
We are planning for one adult vocal choir, which will provide worship leadership twice a month, including special festivals, and will rehearse weekly (typically Wednesday evenings). In addition, we will have one handbell choir and one children/youth choir, both of which will offer worship leadership quarterly, with rehearsals scheduled as needed (typically Sunday mornings after worship). It is our hope that with time and creativity the bell program and children’s music program will be able to expand.
