POSITION OVERVIEW:
Under the supervision of the Director of Employment Services, the Job Coach provides on-site supports for individuals with disabilities that have various jobs within the community. Working closely with an Employment Specialist, the Job Coach will help facilitate positive employment outcomes for individuals with community employment. The supports and services provided will be done in a dignified, respectful and professional manner. The Job Coach is expected to travel and work in multiple counties to provide on-site job support.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Promote a work environment that respects those we serve and always treat them with respect and dignity.
- Provide on-site job coaching to individuals served that have obtained community employment.
- Works closely with Employment Specialists with various clients on their caseload to help provide added supports to individuals.
- Work with individuals at The Branch day program to work through career curriculum to help with learning and enhancing skills for the workplace, teaching budgeting skills, how to deal with conflict at work, etc.
- Work with employers to identify job tasks that may need modifying to fit each individual's needs and advocate for various accommodations needed for each individual.
- Write progress notes for all clients being coached on the job and write summary reports about career curriculum worked on with The Branch; all to be handed into Employment Specialists/Director in a timely manner.
- Be open to new experiences and techniques to help people served succeed at work.
- Traveling between counties/towns required; mileage reimbursed.
- Other duties and responsibilities as instructed.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with program participants, coworkers, community employers, and their supervisor.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to bend, stoop, lift and carry.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Be able to lift over 40 pounds from floor to waist unassisted
- Be able to push and pull 75 pounds
- Be able to complete deep knee squats
- Be able to push wheelchairs up to 200 pounds
- Remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
- Operate motor vehicles
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach, stoop kneel to install computer equipment
- Physical activities that could be used include: driving, balancing, pulling, pushing, standing, climbing, grasping, stooping, crouching, crawling, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and repetitive motion.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must demonstrate proficient inter-personal, communication, and writing skills.
- Computer skills including Word, Excel, Email and Internet.
- A valid driver's license is required. Mileage reimbursement offered.
- Maintain a current CPR and First Aid card (training provided through Trinity Services).
