What is an Early Intervention Specialist?
An Early Intervention Specialist assigned to the Early Start Program implements the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) within a family and child centered play-based and natural environment. An Early Intervention Specialist assists in evaluating the child in five developmental areas: Social-Emotional, Adaptive/Self Help, Communication, Physical, and Cognitive; works directly with the learner and learner’s family providing coaching and supportive strategies to encourage strong social-emotional bonds throughout the family; assists parents and caregivers to provide appropriate learning experiences based on their child’s needs, interests and functioning levels; accurately maintains documentation monitoring the overall effectiveness of the treatment plan; maintains open and frequent communication with all team members.

What is your role?
- Works in close collaboration with parents/caregivers and other team members to ensure coordinated implementation of behavior and learning outcomes.
- Assists parents/caregivers to identify objects, toys, materials available in the home that can be used to design activities that address desired learning outcomes.
- Prepares and demonstrates use of materials shared with parents/caregivers for activities selected to engage the child’s attention and active participation.
- Records instructional and behavioral data for learners.
- Communicates questions or issues that may arise from family inquiries to the ES Program Coordinator.
- Follows a weekly work schedule as listed on scheduling software.
- Drives self to multiple work sites during the workday, as required.
- Completes minimally the first four CLM Course of Study units.
- Attends staff meetings.
- Responds to communication from team members and office personnel within an acceptable time frame.
- Adheres to all Health Protocols.
What’s required from you?
- Bachelor’s Degree preferably in early childhood education, psychology, or related studies.
- Experience working with children and/or adults in homes and other community settings.
- Proof of TB clearance.
- CPR/BLS certification.
- Ability to stand, kneel, crawl, crouch, twist, bend, play on the floor, and lift up to 40 pounds.
- Bilingual competencies, highly desirable.
What are the desired knowledge and skills?
- Working knowledge of child development.
- Knowledge of or willingness to complete the required CLM Course of Study units.
- Ability to maintain a high level of work performance without daily direct supervision.
- Accepts feedback and implements suggestions.
- Demonstrates initiative, creativity and flexibility with individual families and focuses on family priorities.
- Demonstrate skills and compliance with policies/guidelines of Tucci Learning Solutions, Inc. and regulations and guidelines with governing agencies (SARC, DDS, CDE)
