Position Overview:
The Tuolumne Fire Safe Council is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Part-Time Bookkeeper to support our organization's financial operations. This position will involve managing financial transactions, including retrieving and processing mail, receiving and processing invoices, generating checks, and producing financial reports. The bookkeeper will ensure accurate and timely financial data to help our board make informed decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Retrieve and Open Mail: Collect and open daily incoming mail related to financial matters (e.g., invoices, statements, donation checks). Post office box is located in Tuolumne City.
- Invoice Processing: Receive and verify invoices, ensuring proper documentation and approval before entering them into the Quick books accounting system.
- Check Generation: Generate checks for board approval and signature for approved invoices and financial obligations.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for presentation at board meetings. These reports will summarize income, expenses, and other key financial metrics.
- Record Keeping: Maintain organized and accurate financial records in accordance with the Council’s policies and procedures.
- Account Reconciliation: Assist with monthly reconciliation of accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Other Duties as Assigned: Support the Executive Director or Board as needed with financial matters.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role, ideally within a nonprofit or community organization.
- Strong knowledge of QuickBooks online and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with team members and board members.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with nonprofit accounting or understanding of nonprofit financial practices.
- Familiarity with QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
Work Schedule:
This is a part-time position with flexible hours. The anticipated workload is approximately 5 to 8 hours per week, with potential adjustments based on council needs.
Compensation:
Hourly rate based on experience.
