Description
American Bin and Conveyor is looking for Welder Fabricators at our Burlington, Wisconsin manufacturing facility. This position reports to the shop foreman and is responsible for using flame-cutting and welding equipment and techniques to join metal components, weld, fill holes or indentations, or fill seams or fabrications on metal products. This job is a multi-skilled position and requires a keen eye for detail, strong math skills, and the ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Use measuring devices to assist in layout and fit of steel to be welded.
- Align and fit parts according to drawing specifications.
- Weld pieces together in flat, vertical or overhead positions, to make the desired completed product according to documented print.
- Grind burrs and sharp edges using hand grinders.
- Examine completed work pieces for defects such as deformed edges and marred surfaces.
- Initiate and maintain good housekeeping practices in all work areas.
- Complies with all company safety policies and procedures and practices safe work habits.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 3 years' welding experience.
- 2 years' fitting experience preferred.
- Ability to use basic mathematics and measurements.
- Experience working with and reading blueprints.
- Experience with layout and measuring.
- Ability to inspect fabricated parts before welding.
- High degree of attention required to prevent injury to self and others.
- Agree to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the company.
Successfully pass pre-employment background check, drug screen, and physical.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIROMENT
· Job requires working in all elements, depending on job location, heat, cold, rain, or snow and environmental conditions that present exposure to many odors, fumes, materials, substances and particulate matter over which the company has no control and often no forewarning of existence unless they are considered hazardous materials, and additional typical potential hazards company strives to protect those who work from heights and in compact spaces, both indoors and outdoors; may include exposure to loud and/or repetitive noises.
- · Repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers.
- · Maintaining body equilibrium, agility to prevent falling when walking, digging, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs.
- · Bend, crouch, stoop, squat, craw, climb, kneel, balance, and work in small places.
- · Standing, walking and reading computer screens for long periods of time.
- · Ability to climb, maintain balance, and perform work as may be required on all type of ladders, scaffolds, etc. using equipment in compliance with equipment requirements including personal weight and personal tools weight limitations of ladders (class 1‐ 250lbs, class 1A ‐ 300lbs)
- · Lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- · Using upper extremities to apply or exert a force up to 20 pounds.
- · Bending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, extending arms and hands in any direction in a repetitive manner and in small areas.
- · Strong vision (naturally or with correction) to see and distinguish colors.
- · Ability to access construction areas from street level to all levels of the project structure, when only access is by OSHA approved ladder or stairs still under construction.
- · Wear personnel protective equipment at all times i.e. safety hard hats, safety glasses, work boots, or safety harnesses, or respirators, etc. as required per project.
- · Ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with others in the workplace.
- · Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted.
